Filth in our homes?

By: American Decency Staff

A truth that needs to be lifted up. Pornography degrades, debilitates, addicts, victimizes and destroys. And people of all ages easily and too often readily succumb to it. This ought not to be.

Satan uses the lust of the flesh to find his way into the hearts and minds of vulnerable ones and make no mistake – many are vulnerable. Pornography comes in many varieties today via the Internet, network and cable television, magazines, CDs and DVDs and video tapes and movies, etc. This is a gentle reminder to moms and dads to exert great care not to allow your lives to become so engulfed with activity that standards of Biblical morality and decency are thwarted and destroyed. Our children need our spiritual leadership as never before. Some helpful Scripture verses to remind and exhort. Psalm 101:3a: “I will place no wicked thing before mine eyes.” Job 31:1: I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?” I Thessalonians 5:21,22: “Test all things. Hold fast what is good. Abstain from all forms of evil.” I Peter 5:8,9: “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” Hebrews 12:14: “Pursue holiness without which no man shall see the Lord.” May this serve as a gentle reminder/exhortation. May God help each of us to fight the good fight of faith in this important area of spiritual discernment and warfare. ========================= Two other things: 1. An update on the building that we are trying to purchase debt free at $210,000. We have cash totaling approximately $180,000 with pledges totaling $30,000. Our closing date is scheduled for March 22. We rejoice at what God is doing to bring this vision to fruition! Here is a picture of the church building. https://americandecency.org/email_updates/email01.16a.07.htm Thank you for your prayers. 2. Personal note: In the early part of last year, several teens approached me and my wife with the thought of having a Bible study together. It was recommended by a young lady in her mid twenties that we use Jerry Bridges book “The Pursuit of Holiness.” Jan and I were pleasantly surprised that this is the direction that these youth wanted to pursue. This book is a tremendous study. The chapters are concise and meaty but readable. The little book has study questions for each chapter. As Christians, our Lord calls us to “pursue holiness without which no man shall see the Lord.” [Hebrews 12:14] A tremendous way to study over a period of time God’s great plan for our lives – I urge the reading and study of this book for yourself. And beyond that, I encourage you to bring together a group of people – young and/or old – and study and strive together to engage in this life long pursuit – “to be holy for He is holy.” If you would like a free copy, email Kimberly@americandecency.org If you would like multiple copies, we are making them available for $1.00 a piece plus shipping. Here is a quote from Dr. Jerry Bridges book from chapter 12. “The Bible indicates that our thought lives ultimately determine our character. Solomon said, ‘For as he thinks within himself, so he is’ (Proverbs 23:7 NASB). An old well known verse puts it this way Sow a thought, reap an act Sow an act, reap a habit; Sow a habit, reap a character….” Order your free copy today by either emailing Kimberly@americandecency.org or by calling at 1-888-733-2326 =================== American Decency Association Bill Johnson, President P.O.
