Expressions of concern in Carmel, IN make a difference Activism: Victoria's Secret updateFIRST THIS REGARDING CNN HEADLINE NEWS INTERVIEW As a result of local activism (below), CNN Headline News contacted me Friday asking me to do an interview regarding the egregious displays of Victoria's Secret. The moderator actually vocally supported our position. He himself was affronted by erotic displays at his local mall as he was taking his young son to see Santa Claus. He found it nearly impossible to get around the nasty displays as he was just wanting to have a wholesome shopping experience with his son. The interview included a spokesperson with a lady from Americans Against Censorship and myself. The coverage was very fair and I had the opportunity to speak for millions like us. ====================== Months ago I received an email and a call from a young woman out of the Indianapolis area bothered about the disgustingly pornographic displays and mannequins at the Clay Terrace Mall (14390 Clay Terrace Blvd, Carmel, IN 46032). This was no overnight, impulsive concern. She had contacted me in earlier years wanting to make a difference. She and several others expressed concern, called and wrote letters to the local mall manager, Victoria's Secret at the mall and Victoria's Secret corporate office. I'm not certain yet (I'll be calling her) but I know that a picket was being discussed. In the middle of Friday afternoon, Victoria's Secret toned down the mannequin display at Clay Terrace Mall placing pajamas on the mannequins in place of g strings and teddies. As I hope you know by now. We have continued to express our concerns to our local mall here in Grandville, Michigan (Rivertown Crossings Mall) – a property of General Growth Properties. We are pleased with the alteration they have made. These displays feature women wearing pajamas. No disclaimer is needed. I hope that you will see for yourself. https://americandecency.org/updates_new/2007/December/12.03.07a.php https://americandecency.org/updates_new/2007/December/12.03.07b.php We express our concern when we are unhappy. This is an opportunity to express thanks when they respond positively. However, I'm under no illusion. These changes have been made because Victoria's Secret and our local malls don't want negative publicity during the biggest shopping season of the year. CONTACT: General Growth Properties CEO does have some influence. GGP is the second largest renter of mall space in America. Thank him for being an influence for greater wholesomeness in this venue.
