Today I’ve been asked to speak to a high school Bible class about doing personal devotions. .. At the end of his life, David stated it this way: ‘As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him. …'”
Having devotions — invites the power of God — I was reminded that King David didn’t write Psalm 23 when he was in his teens but rather later in life after he had experienced the hurts and sorrows of life: heartache, heartbreak, being tracked down by King Saul, betrayal by his son Absalom, being despised by Michal, daughter of Saul (and David’s wife). He learned to turn to God and trust in His holy name. What warring and difficulty there was surrounding David in the Kingdom he ruled for so many years. But God strengthened him again and again. I speak at 1:25 this afternoon to a group of about 15. Please pray God’s anointing upon this time. Devotions. It is His Word that gives what we stand in need of. Where would we be without God? I have heard many say that as they go through deep waters. At the end of his life, David stated it this way: “As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him. For who is God, save our Lord? and who is a rock, save our God? God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect.” [II Samuel 22:31-33] As I look at the landscape facing our generations, there is overwhelming degradation and darkness. There are storm clouds looming. David certainly saw that in his day. As God was to David, may He be to you and me, and to those that come after us! “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.” [Psalm 23] ===================================== American Decency Association Bill Johnson, President P.O.
