A cause worth fighting for

By: American Decency Staff

As you know, ADA regularly urges supermarket chains throughout the country to remove such magazines from their checkout aisles – magazines that display pornographic images or titles. We welcome the support of Family Research Council in this campaign. Yesterday (January 30) FRC’s president Tony Perkins urged listeners to his daily radio program to take a stand for decency and oppose pornographic magazines such as Cosmo in their grocery stores. In part he stated: “Innocent kids are getting a good look at some not-so innocent magazines like Cosmopolitan. It‘s just another way pop-culture’s de-sensitizing our kids to indecency. If we don’t sweat this small stuff, we won’t have a chance of protecting our teens against the bigger battle for integrity.” To listen to FRC’s radio program on this issue click below: http://www.frc.org/popup.cfm?load=file&f=DOWNLOAD&i=EF07A40 What should our response be as Christians, as parents and grandparents? I believe we would not shop a store that foisted “Playboy” at the eye level of children in the checkout aisle, but far too many are hesitant to speak out against the pornographic Cosmo. Cosmopolitan – now at checkout aisles across the country – is pornography in the guise of a women’s magazine. It doesn’t have to include nude photos to be considered pornographic. The graphic, sexualized titles on the front cover of Cosmo and the corresponding articles attest to that. So how does being “salt and light” relate to this issue? Are we so concerned with what others think that we won’t speak out in defense of children and young people, of innocence and morality? Your voice is needed to take a stand for decency in the family marketplace. Join in this important cause. Sign up to receive an American Decency Association membership card and use it to show grocery store managers when you step up and take a stand that you are part of a nationwide effort to restore family shopping centers to being free of such trash. We will be furnishing a membership card and an instructional DVD and/or CD that will systematically explain how to address store managers and/or owners regarding this concern. There will be a minimal price attached to this membership card to show that you are willing to make a financial sacrifice ($25.00) and not just be a curiosity seeker. (This price will help cover the costs of the identification card, the DVD and postage.) To indicate your interest, email us at info@americandecency.org and please provide your name, email address and phone number – any other information that you think might be helpful would be appreciated as well. Or call us at 1-888-733-2326 to stand with us in this nationwide campaign and to receive your American Decency Association membership card. (Please allow approximately two -three weeks for delivery as we are in the beginning stages of producing the membership card and instructional DVD). ========================================== Let’s encourage one another and strengthen one another to be more like our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
