Omar’s Justice

In another of the Left’s long line of attacks on America, Representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN) tweeted more of her anti-American propaganda. “We must have the same level of accountability and justice for all victims of crimes against humanity. We have seen unthinkable atrocities committed by the U.S., Hamas, Israel, Afghanistan, and the Taliban. I asked Secretary Blinken where people are supposed to go for justice.

Who would have thought that such a statement would make her as popular as a soldier wearing blue AND gray to the Battle of Gettysburg? But that’s exactly what happened; she’s drawing fire from both sides now.

On the one hand, it’s unbelievable that Representative Omar equates the U.S. and Israel, both of which take great effort to avoid civilian casualties, with jihad terrorist groups that target civilians by hiding in civilian buildings and by using innocents as human shields. One could rightly ask where was her search for justice regarding “some people did something” on 9-11.

On the other hand, incredible as it may seem, Hamas complained as well, about being compared to the US and Israel; although they did commend Rep. Omar in her search for justice. Fox News reported that Dr. Basem Naim from Hamas’ international relations office wrote, “She equated the resistance of the Palestinian people on the one hand, and the crimes of the Israeli occupation in Palestine and the American aggression in Afghanistan on the other.” Fox also stated that “The terrorist organization said Omar had equated the ‘victim’ to the ‘oppressor.’”

Speaking of justice…where is it in our political system? Republicans were reprimanded, taken off committees, and encouraged to step down when controversial statements were made, or rather were misconstrued. Former President Trump was constantly and unjustly attacked by the Democrats and when it was shown that they actually manufactured “evidence,” there was no justice forthcoming and the American taxpayer continued to foot the bill. When the SCOTUS doesn’t even want to look at election fraud, how can we find justice?

How did the Democrats respond to their own Rep. Omar? Here is the Fox News headline that shows how justice is not served when the shoe is on the other political foot: “Speaker Pelosi refuses to condemn Rep. Omar's controversial tweets, calls her 'valued member' of Caucus.” With this and so many other statements, where is Rep. Omar’s justice, as she sits on the Foreign Affairs Committee?

When a nation and its laws, or rather the judging of those laws, is divorced from God’s Word, we end up with chaos and confusion. It’s not who casts the ballots but who counts the ballots; it’s not who makes the laws it’s who interprets and judges the laws… Perhaps justice, rather than beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. Although that is a ludicrous statement, in our world of feelings rather than fact, it has become the case.

The statement “It is impossible to rightly govern a nation without God and the Bible” is often attributed to George Washington, and it is true. Longing for justice in this world, I see the importance of our nation getting back to the Word of God, becoming “one nation, under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all.” In the world to come I am looking for God’s mercy and grace rather than justice; for Jesus took my justice—God’s wrath—upon Himself, providing grace. I’m grateful for God’s grace to all who repent of their sin and live a transformed life of holiness; for, in Christ, we are new creatures. Such grace is made all the more sweet when we recognize that one day God—the Judge of all the earth—will dispense justice on all who have rejected His mercy found in Jesus. Yes, one day justice will be served for all—Omar, victims, you, and I. Are you ready?
