Coming to America

This article’s title has a two-fold meaning: Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff and, if we are not vigilant, Shariah are coming to America. In a sense both of them have; Elisabeth comes to warn against the Shariah which is already being embraced in some areas of our nation. Read on to learn how this is happening, who Elisabeth Wolff is, and why her message is so important.

American Decency Association is very pleased and grateful to have Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff with us in West Michigan for the week of March 12-15.  (See below for locations and time.)

Who is Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff:

Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff is the daughter of an Austrian diplomat and as such spent her childhood in Muslim countries. She learned firsthand what Islamic law meant and she felt a compulsion to conform to it. As Bill Johnson interviewed her for Finally, a Decent Podcast, she stated, “Islam has always been a part of my life, probably more so than Christianity.” She also spent time in America and learned the blessing of freedom, having been made to learn about our U.S. Constitution; she carried that with her as she continued to live in various places around the globe. She also learned firsthand what trouble would come against her personally and legally as she stood for truth, regarding Islamic ideologies (Shariah) in her own country. These experiences moved her to write Truth Was My Crime: a Life Fighting for Freedom.

Now she travels giving a clear warning about what happens to countries where Shariah is accepted or even adopted. Dave Agema, not only a fighter pilot but a fighter for truth as well. He’s a strong Christian who is widely known for his deep understanding and ability to cut to the quick in clearly explaining the urgency of not back peddling and wringing our hands, but joining together with like-minded individuals, praying together and seeking God’s direction on how to close the doors to the incremental spread of Islam throughout the land. Phil and Sherry (McElheran) Bayne:  We at American Decency have learned quite some time ago that when other names of key people are brought up, we need to be attentive to it, as God often is at work leading us to hear His voice on the matter. What a treasure this couple is.  We are blessed to incorporate them into our group of speakers.

Sherry’s parents began their ministry in Nigeria back in the mid-1940s. Though she spent portions of her growing up years being educated in missionary schools far away, she lived in Nigeria for seasons as well.  In 2019, Phil and Sherry had opportunity to return to Nigeria for an annual gathering of Nigerian Christians.  She was given the opportunity to greet 4,000 of them. 4,000 Christian missionaries risen up from the seed of her parents from earlier years.  She was overwhelmed with emotion. They returned in 2024. They have been in the wilds of Nigeria and their hearts are filled with love for the people amidst their slaughter and persecution.  They were amazed by their love and resiliency in Christ. They have videos of these Nigerian Christians and want to share the beauty of these believers. They do it well and you will be inspired.

Why is this conference so important?

Because the threat is real; we’ve watched the encroachment of Islamists and Shariah into our varied institutions for over two decades as our leaders have assured us, falsely, that Islam is a religion of peace. While not all Muslims are violent (many are peaceful), every jihadist, Islamic terrorist, and Shariah-adherent is Muslim. The American public has been sold a “peaceful” bill of goods and it has largely put our nation to sleep; we must wake up! It is not fear-mongering to believe and warn against what those with evil intent toward our nation are telling us. It is not fear-mongering when we see and blow a trumpet of warning against the civilization jihad that is taking place in our own nation; when the First Amendment is under attack because speaking the truth about Islam is considered a “hate crime” and “hate speech,” put on the same level as a physical attack; when our welfare systems are being strained and there is much fraud being committed against the system, against the taxpayers, and against those Americans who are honestly in need of help.

Portions of Congress are waking up, asking questions, and addressing the real issues – taking steps to protect our nation from both the threats within and without. On Tuesday, February 10, the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution and Limited Government held a hearing to discuss whether Shariah law is constitutional or not. The Daily Signal ran an article the next day with a very concise summary of that hearing.

Robert Spencer was called upon to give testimony at this hearing and his 5-minute speech best answers our starting question – Why is this conference so important? Here are his first two paragraphs:

“The US Constitution and Shariah are incompatible, and the conflict between the two legal systems will grow as Shariah adherents increase in number in the West. This fact has been obscured by misinformation about what Shariah is. When the city of Keller, Texas scrapped an anti-Shariah resolution in January 2026, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, CAIR, stated that ‘like canon law for Catholics and halacha for Orthodox Jews, shariah refers to the rules that Muslims follow, including praying five times a day, fasting in Ramadan, giving in charity, and following the laws of the land in which they live.’

“If that were really all that Shariah was about, no reasonable person would have any problem with it. CAIR doesn’t mention, however, that Shariah is inherently political, supremacist, expansionist, and violent. Far from being the ‘Islamophobic conspiracy theories’ of CAIR’s imagining, these are facts that Muslim authorities on Shariah openly attest.” (Emphases are mine) I urge you to read or to watch/listen to the rest of Robert Spencer’s speech. He speaks to several specifics and gives warning to those who will hear. The watch link is at the bottom of the article and includes questions put to Mr. Spencer during this hearing along with his important answers.

In listening to Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff’s podcast, I was intrigued to hear her echo American Decency’s lament over the past decade: The attendance at these meetings is small; there should be many more. The greatest part of the audience is “gray heads;” where are the young people?  Thank the Lord for the “gray heads.”

Friends, it’s vital that we bring our youth to truth; let’s invite our teens and adult children. Let’s urge the young and middle-aged adults in our churches to join us for these events. Invite them to hear caring messages of truth and warning. We have had gatherings in Grand Rapids of 550 and 650 before, which showed such deep concern then. It’s vitally important to recognize where we are headed. May it be that our speakers can see that there is still love and concern for our nation, the persecuted Christian, and for truth-tellers.

Again, this is a superb opportunity to bring with you a loved one, a friend, a neighbor.
