1 in 1 for 10-17-25

By: Steve Huston

If you’re a regular reader of our articles, particularly the Friday 3 in 3, you might be surprised to see that today’s email alert is entitled: “1 in 1.” No, it’s not a typo; we have a very special Decency Minute that we are running all next week to promote our Jay Jusino event next Friday, October 24, from 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm (with built-in 25-minute break) at the American Decency building (203 E. Main St., Fremont, MI). More on that later.

In Matthew 5:16 Jesus calls us to: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” And the “disciple Jesus loved” exhorts us: “He that saith he abideth in him [Jesus] ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked” (1 John 2:6).

Christians throughout history have reiterated these commands, pointing to the transforming power of salvation and the believer’s responsibility to walk in victory, presenting Jesus to others. As Paul stated, it’s no longer I that live, but it’s Christ who lives in me. One such example is from C.H. Mackintosh: “Christianity is …a newborn man following a living Christ, walking as He walked, doing as He did, imitating His example…It is keeping the eye fixed upon Jesus and…having His character imprinted…and reproduced in our life and ways.

It is the blood of Jesus that transforms us and the work of the Holy Spirit within our lives that empowers us to live such a life, yet we may still find ourselves asking: “How? How can I do this? The struggle is real!” We freely embrace the sovereignty of our Heavenly Father AND we also accept the fact that we have a responsibility as well – Scripture makes it clear.

Though this is a lengthy quote, F.B. Meyer offers some helps in fulfilling our responsibility, having victory over shortcomings and sin:

God looks on us as having been crucified with Christ and being dead with Him.  In Him we have passed out of the world of sin and death into the world of resurrection glory.  This is our position in the mind of God; it is for us to take it up and make it real by faith.  We may not feel any great difference, but we must believe that there is; we must act as if there were.  When, then, a temptation solicits you, say, “I am dead to you; spend not your energies on one that is oblivious to your spells and callous to your charms.  You have no more power over me than over my Lord and Head.”  “Reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Rom. 6:11).

As soon as you are aware of temptation, look instantly to Jesus.  Flee to Him quicker than a chick runs beneath the shelter of its mother’s wing when the falcon is in the air.  In the morning, before you leave your room, put yourself definitely into His hands, persuaded that He is able to keep that which you commit unto Him.  Go from your room with the assurance that He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings shall you trust.  And when the tempter comes, look instantly up and say, “Jesus, I am trusting You to keep me.”  This is what the Apostle Paul calls using the shield of faith.  The upward glance of faith puts Jesus as a shield between the tempter and yourself.  You may go through life, saying a hundred times a day, “Jesus save me,” and He will never let those that trust in Him be ashamed.  He is able even to guard you from stumbling (Jude 24).

There is something better even than that.  It was first taught me by a gray-haired clergyman.  Once, when tempted to feel great irritation, he told us that he looked up and claimed the patience and gentleness of Christ, and since then it had become the practice of his life to claim from Him the virtue of which he felt the deficiency in himself.  In hours of unrest, Your peace, Lord.  In hours of irritation, Your patience, Lord.  In hours of temptation, Your purity, Lord.  In hours of weakness, Your strength, Lord.  It was to me a message straight from the throne.  Until then I had been content with ridding myself of burdens; now I began to reach forth to positive blessing, making each temptation the occasion for a new acquisition of gold leaf.

All that we have to do is to maintain this attitude of full surrender, by the grace of the Holy Spirit.  Use regularly the means of meditation, private prayer, and Bible study.  Seek forgiveness for any failure as soon as you are conscious of it, and ask to be restored.

Truly, the arm of flesh will always fail us, but we know that there is Victory In Jesus (link is to the Getty’s).

Another way in which we can be helped to have the victory, by God’s Spirit and design, is to be forewarned and forearmed – to know the signs of the times and how God calls us to live within them. That is one of the reasons why we are having Jay Jusino come next week: to help “those who have ears to hear” understand what is going on in this world and how we should respond, “redeeming the time for the days are evil.”

We’ve sent out email alerts talking about who Jay is, what he’ll be talking about, some of what he’s covered in the past, and urging you to invite others. Again, all of this is to help us know what we can expect in the near future, how it ties in with God’s Word, and, most importantly, how we should respond, as believers.

Below is our 1 in 1 for three times in the upcoming week. You can listen to Bill narrate it by clicking the title or simply read the script below. We urge you to share the script and the audio with others by email, word of mouth, and by posting to your favorite social media platforms.

Jay Jusino event

Dark MAGA, Elon Musk, and Bible Prophesy – those are some of the intriguing topics Jay Jusino will address at American Decency in Fremont on Friday, October 24 at 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm (with built-in 25-minute break)

Popular speaker, Jay Jusino, is returning with another well-documented presentation about globalist leaders and their plan for mankind; troubling concerns about A.I. – while putting it all into perspective from a Christian worldview.

We can’t become complacent, no matter who is in the White House.  As Ephesians says, we don’t wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, powers, and rulers of the darkness of this age.

Come and hear Jay as he lifts the curtain on globalist schemes, but also reminds that God is working out His perfect plan.

Join us at American Decency, 203 E. Main Street in Fremont on Friday, October 24 at 1:30 PM.  Go to www.americandecency.org for more information.
