Magic Johnson proud over his homosexual son. Really?

I saw the headline yesterday on twitter: “Magic Johnson responds to photo of gay son: ‘Very proud’ of him

“Basketball legend  Magic Johnson said a recent photograph of his son walking the Sunset Strip, dressed in fur coat and swinging a handbag — and holding hands with his boyfriend — doesn’t bother him.

In fact, he’s proud of his son, Earvin “E.J.” Johnson III, 20, no matter what, TMZ reports. http://www.washingtontimes.com/

Would you be proud to hear that your loved one had chosen a life that God calls an abomination?  Maybe if you yourself had lived a life of reprobation – and yourself had lost the ability to think and act morally any longer.

If Magic Johnson says he’s proud of his son for being a homosexual does his statement make it right in your heart and mind?

Magic Johnson stated in 1991 upon admitting that he had HIV  “.. There were just some bachelors that almost every woman in Los Angeles wanted to be with: Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall and Magic Johnson. I confess that after I arrived in L.A. in 1979, I did my best to accommodate as many women as I could -- most of them through unprotected sex."

If one definition of "hero" is model or ideal, as Webster's Third New International Dictionary attests, Magic Johnson is hardly a model or ideal to anyone with a sense of sexual morality.

But with that smile, Magic Johnson writes that having contracted the HIV virus is "God's way" of directing him "to become a teacher, to carry the message about the dangers of AIDS to everyone" after he educates himself about the disease.

"Everything I've done," he writes, "He's directed me." …

The demarcation line is at this point:  The God who is or the God who isn’t.

For those who say there is no God, it’s fine to screw around, play around, commit adultery, engage in homosexuality.  There is no right or wrong so do what’s right in your own eyes; do what comes “naturally.”   And if what you want to do isn’t considered politically correct today, just wait awhile then it will be okay in the near future.  Polygamy?  Pedophilia?  Same-sex marriage?  Beastiality?

For those who say there is a God, they believe there is a God in Heaven who created man and woman and who created all things.  They also believe there is TRUTH - that there is such a thing as right and wrong; that life is precious; that the chief end of man is to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever.

Therefore, God’s warnings in His word are reasonable and wise.  God made us and He knows what’s best.  He gives strong warnings regarding illicit sex:  pre-marital sex, promiscuity, adultery, homosexuality, polygamy.

Why? Because He loves His people and doesn’t want His people to be damaged and to damage other people through that sin which degrades, addicts, destroys.

And the sin of homosexuality DOES damage!   You could provide your accounts as well – multiple , multiple accounts but somehow we seldom to never hear these accounts.  Do you?  We just see Magic Johnson types with their “warm smiles” saying all is well and I’m proud.  GAY PRIDE.

I recall my conversation with a Christian brother (David) who was dying of AIDS back in the 1990s.  I went to his home near Lowell, Michigan to visit with him in the last months of his life.  He spoke freely about the multiple relations that he had with hundreds of other men.

At the time of my interview, David had become a Christian, a married man with children.  He was repentant and sorrowful about his past but rejoiced in His new life in Christ.  Knowing that he would be leaving his family behind was a heavy cross to bear.

He told me in my conversations with him, “Bill, the homosexual lifestyle is destructive and deadly.  The majority have sexual relationships with multiple partners passing on a wide variety of sexually transmitted diseases.”

I met Michael Johnston while visiting in Tupelo, MS also in the 1990s.  Michael created a video entitled “On Wings Like Eagles.”  Michael powerfully shared his testimony which eerily confirmed my friend David’s account.   Michael reports that he attended many funerals of past homosexual lovers over the years.  At the date of a later recording, he reported that as far as he knew, he was the only one that yet remained alive between himself and the former lovers.

In addition, Glen was my very best friend while an undergraduate at Michigan State University.  Glen was a very bright guy with a promising future and a great personality.  My mom and dad and family also loved Glenn.

As we reached the remaining years of college life, it became increasingly clear that Glen had homosexual tendencies.   Keep in mind – this was the late 1960s.

I got married in 1970 and little by little Glen and I began to lose track of one another’s lives and careers.  He moved out of state.  I searched for him on Facebook and elsewhere but to no avail.  I was able to locate his brother and had a lengthy phone conversation with him.

Upon building good rapport, his brother told me that Glen had died  a horrible death at the hands of AIDS.  Enough said.

For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.

Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.   Romans 1:21-24

Other societies have turned their backs upon God.  That’s what America is doing - substituting the truth for a lie.

In closing, I live in the real world.  I have had loved ones break my heart.  I have deeply disappointed my own parents – nearly broken their hearts.

I have been loved, even when I have done wrong.  I have and I will do the same.  But I will never say that I am proud of an act or a behavior that dishonors God and degrades His people.
